Creative Songwriting

Dive into the beauty and creativity of songwriting in this immersive camp! Explore songwriting development through observation, intuition, games and spending time in nature. Together we will write songs that are inspired by our peer’s artwork, our favorite stories, and our internal identities. We will also examine our own favorite songs, classic poetry, and traditional song structure. Keep your own musician’s journal to record ideas, brainstorms, and observations to use as inspiration in writing your songs.
Máire Kennan is a singer-songwriter who grew up on Vashon, and currently studies Fine Arts at Cardiff School of Art and Design in Wales, UK. She has worked with Jeff Fielder (Amy Ray Band) on producing her debut album released in 2021, Titled “Man in My Pocket.” She wrote every song herself and has played shows around Vashon at venues like the O Space, Vashon Theatre, and Vashon Concerts in the Park. She also writes short stories and poetry and makes paintings. She has assisted art camps before and is passionate about educating kids and connecting with their creativity and spirit.
