John Stowell has played and taught jazz guitar for the last 40 years to audiences and students all over the world. From Germany to Argentina to Japan, John has brought his unique style and skills to every kind of educational setting. His clinics are informal, hands-on, and informative. John deconstructs complex harmonic language and breaks it down into small components that are easy to understand and apply. In this VCA workshop, John will demonstrate the modes of the melodic minor and how these sounds allow a soloist to access some interesting tensions and colors in their improvising. Chord progressions and modulation techniques will also be addressed. All participants will receive a 70 page pdf and a link to listen to John’s new Origin CD with Dan Dean.
