A tačo storycatching and storytelling workshop for BIPOC folx and accomplices of European descent centering historically marginalized stories from this island. tačo is the lushootseed name for what is now conventionally known as "Vashon Island" and lushootseed is the language of the first peoples of this place. Our first session will invite participants to learn more about tačo history, read and select BIPOC stories, choose a historical character, research, and begin to craft a story to tell. Our second session will invite participants to dive into performance skills, including embodiment, voice, acting, storytelling and rehearsal. Our time together will culminate in a celebration and optional showcase of our work for friends and family (a donation-based fundraiser for the Puyallup Tribal Language Program).
